The Glass Printery is a family-owned glass and ceramic printing specialist based in Cambridge, New Zealand. We work with breweries, wineries, cafés, restaurants and commercial brands nationwide to produce durable, kiln-fired prints that are made to last.
With more than 30 years of hands-on experience, we combine traditional screen-printing principles with custom-engineered equipment to achieve sharp, consistent results across every production run. Our focus is simple: high-quality printing that performs in real hospitality environments.

Our Story
Learn about the story of The Glass Printery, and how we've grown into one of NZ's trusted suppliers of branded drinkware.
1993
Rick begins specialising in glass and ceramic screen printing, building hands-on expertise in kiln-fired processes and commercial production.
2000s
Rick utilises the expertise and knowledge he's built over the last decade to form his own glassware and ceramic screen-printing business alongside his wife, Carly, in Christchurch, NZ.
2010s
Carly and Rick have now spent almost a decade building their business in Christchurch, supporting breweries, wineries, cafés and hospitality venues with durable branded glassware.
2011
Rick and Carly move their business and family from Christchurch to Cambridge, NZ, following the Christchurch earthquakes.
2015
Following the move to Cambridge, Carly and Rick set up operations to begin commercial drinkware printing, officially establishing The Glass Printery.
2020
A small-batch ecommerce store, Glass Pimps, is created to service short runs and individual orders, expanding access to printed glassware.
2021
A local showroom and café space opens, giving customers a place to view products, discuss projects and order smaller quantities in person.
Now
The business returns its full focus to commercial and wholesale printing, partnering with hospitality and product brands across New Zealand with the same hands-on, family-run approach.

Our Printing Process
At The Glass Printery, our craftsmanship is built on specialist kiln-fired screen printing refined over decades. Using traditional methods and custom equipment, we deliver accurate, durable results for commercial use.
1. Artwork Confirmation
We review and refine your artwork, adjust it for curved or flat surfaces, and confirm colour accuracy before production begins.
2. Preparation & Set up
Your design is exposed onto a precision screen to create a sharp, repeatable stencil for consistent printing across the entire run.
3. Print Application
Your artwork is applied using direct cylinder screen printing or decal transfer methods, depending on your printing requirements.
4. Kiln Firing
Each item is kiln-fired using carefully controlled temperature schedules to permanently bond the print for long-term durability.

Rick Dean
Co-Owner & Print Director
Rick brings over 30 years of specialist experience in kiln-fired screen printing and production engineering. He oversees screen preparation, machinery setup and firing schedules, ensuring every print meets exacting standards for accuracy and durability.
Carly Dean
Co-Owner & Client Services Director
Carly manages client relationships, enquiries and project coordination from initial consultation through to delivery. She also liaises with key suppliers to ensure product quality, availability and smooth execution across every order.

Luka Dean
Digital Marketing Coordinator
Luka manages and coordinates The Glass Printery's digital marketing, including photography, social media, and content writing. She helps to manage our online presence so that you can see what we've been up to!
Monty
Resident Pup
Monty takes on the important role of customer success management. He is an integral mascot for The Glass Printery. Typically, he will liaise with the cookie crumbs left behind during your visit.
